I love small town Spartan stores. Picked up a bunch of just off date BBQ sauces, dressings and of course cookies for the wife and kids(mainly for the wife) aswell.

I will be going back.

Nice strips, great price. Watch out for cows with guns.

Ewww, don't ruin the flavor of a good steak with high fructose corn syrup laden sauces! :no_ma:

Do those steaks justice, and flame grill 'em.

Leave them out to warm up to around room temp (or just below). Then slam them onto a flame grill that has been burning for about 5 minutes and brought up to temp.

I don't have a problem with using good sauces to marinade with, as the taste can be fantastic, I actually use a certain Masterfoods one. Stick the steak in a re-sealable bag in the fridge,
the night before you intend to use it, with the marinade, and shake it up a bit.

The next day when grilling, do about 6 minutes either side, and coat with remaining marinade while grilling.

Done properly, it's as close to heaven as a carnivore gets in this life. :)

I found a place in the Philadelphia PA area for meats.

I saw this ad in the Daily News. I have not bought from here, so I do not know the quality of the meats, but the prices are great.

here's some examples:
2.99/lb filet mignon
1.99/lb NY strip
1.00/lb beef spare ribs
1.095/lb pork spare ribs for 10lb box
1.00/lb pork spare ribs 30lb box

The place is called:

Bensalem Wholesale Food Warehouse
2802 Street Road
Bensalem, PA
215-638-8508

We usually split a cow between friends. Sometimes 2 ways, sometimes more depending on how large the cow is and how many people are interested.

After it all is done, we end up with all of the cuts, cut the way we like and pay close to store hamburger prices per pound. Yeah, it varies from year to year but that is my ROT.

FWIW: The beef we are getting is from a local producer, grass fed, no hormones or corn feeding.

So yeah, I sounds like you got a good deal.

this kind of thing is very economical and if you have a deep freezer and a big family it's pretty much a "no brainer."

I guess herds must be being sold down in light of feed costs rising, so stocking up before the prices go the other direction sounds smart.

We are finicky about beef and filled the freezer with grass fed for cleanliness and lack of antibiotic resistant germs, hormones, pesticides, etc etc. But if you eat the grocery store kind anyway, now seems like a good time to fill the freezer.

I bet eatbeef knows if herds are being cut back because corn is going up.

Nice find. From the pics, your steaks have some pretty decent marbling.

However, you may want to work on your knife skills before you lose a digit.

Also, I can tell from the pics that the meat was nearly warm. Bacteria starts growing at an exponential rate when proteins rise above 40 degrees for more than a few hours. If you then freeze it, that bacteria starts growing again when it thaws out.

If, however, you couldn't care less....thae disregard my post whilst flipping off the monitor...:tongue_ma::tongue_ma:

Yeah, whatever, but ya know, as the saying goes, If God didn't want us to eat animals... he wouldn't have them out of meat....:aetsch:
